Cline River Valley

The Cline River Valley is the epicentre of adventure in the Nordegg region, drawing outdoor enthusiasts from around the world with its remarkable diversity of backcountry experiences. One of the largest tributaries flowing into the upper North Saskatchewan River, the Cline River has carved a spectacular valley that provides entry into some of Alberta’s most celebrated wilderness destinations.

Backpackers & anglers can venture deep into the wilds to access alpine gems such as Lake of the Falls, Landslide Lake, and Pinto Lake, while day hikers can discover the dramatic landscapes of Coral Canyon and the Cline River trail system.

The valley is also home to some of the region’s premier climbing opportunities. In winter, the Cline Gallery attracts experienced ice climbers, while summer visitors can challenge themselves on the Fox Via Ferrata and the MegaWall climbing routes on Mount Stelfox. Paddling the braided waters of the Cline River and adventure biking along historic valley-bottom routes provide even more ways to experience this rugged landscape.

With bases at the mouth of the Cline River, local operators such as Rockies Heli Canada and Mackenzie Trails West offer guided experiences, helping visitors safely access some of Alberta’s most spectacular wilderness.
